Disney Theme Wedding: Lady and the Tramp

As Disney theme wedding ideas go, I'd probably have to say that I'd choose Lady and the Tramp as it's always been one of my all-time favorite animated Disney movies. For dog lovers, this would be a perfect wedding idea to base a theme around. It also is a fun, yet romantic choice for those searching for a unique romantic wedding theme.

Suggested Wedding Colors:

Taking the colors of the dogs in the movie, use tan and white with accents of black (paw prints) and red.

Bridal "Attendants" Attire:

Let's go to the dogs for wedding attire! For this Disney theme wedding, instead of having a ring bearer and flower girl, if you own or have access to (very) well-behaved dogs, dress them up and allow them to be in your wedding party.

That's Amore - Choosing a Location:

The perfect setting would be an authentic Italian restuarant. If that's not possible, try to recreate the look of such a restaurant in your chosen local. Use smaller, intimate tables for your guests (4 guests per table) with checkered tablecloths, to recreate the "spagehtti" scene from the movie.

• For this Disney theme wedding, use bouquets of helium filled paw print balloons to decorate doorway entrances, near the DJ/Band stand, on either side of the buffet tables, near the bar, etc.
  
  
• Create a balloon arch also using paw print balloons.
  
  
• Drape swags of tulle in front of the head table and buffet tables, and secure each swag with a bone-shaped clip (you could make these yourself from cut balsa wood).
  
  
• Enlarge and print out color copies of Lady and the Tramp. Cut out and use these as decorations around the room.
  
  

• Try for dark tan tablecloths with a cream colored topper, or get really "Italian" and select red-checkered covers.
  
  
• For centerpieces, use old wine bottles with fresh wildflowers and a couple of taper candles. Keep it simple, much like an Italian restuarant table would be.
  
  
• A well stocked bread basket could also serve as an interesting, and double-duty, centerpiece using small, unique shaped loaves. Don't forget the butter!
  
  

• Biscotti is a favorite Italian cookie and comes in a variety of flavors. Tie a pre-packaged almond biscotti and chocolate biscotti together with ribbon.
  
  
• Small bottles of Italian wine or champagne are excellent choices. A bit too expensive? Then present your guests with wine-related tokens of appreciation.
  
  
• Here's a somewhat different and unique favor idea: hand out G.I. dog tags with your names and wedding date engraved on them. You could also go to a pet store where they engrave dog tags, and pick out paw print and/or bone-shaped tags and have them engraved there.
  
  
• Fill paw print favor bags with mints, candies, miniature chocolates, or dog bone shaped cookies.
  
  
• For favor tags, print out small copies of Lady and the Tramp pictures on heavy white cardstock; cut out each figure individually; and write your thank you message on the backs. Punch a small hole in the top of each cut-out and tie with ribbon to your favors.
  
  

• Buy an inexpensive small dog house (or a birdhouse designed to look like a dog house) and cut a slot out in the roof so that card size envelopes can fit. Set the dog house on a table where presents and cards can be deposited.
  
  

• Before choosing your flowers, you need to be aware that in Italy chrysanthemums are associated with death, so it's best to stay away from this flower for this particular Disney theme wedding.
  
  
• So, what flowers could you use? Gladiolus, Holy, Lilies, Roses, Orchids, Snapdragons, Sunflowers, Delphiniums, Carnations, and Calendula (from the Marigold family) are some great choices.
  
  

• A Lady and the Tramp Disney theme wedding would not be complete without serving spaghetti and meatballs! Plan your menu around Italian foods such as Italian breads, Bruschetta, Minestrone soup or Italian wedding soup, tossed salad, marinated or stuffed mushrooms, cheescakes, Tiramisu, and fruit cups for dessert.

• The Lady and the Tramp Figurine by Armani is strictly for collectors, as the price is listed as $650. However, if you love this movie, and if you are a Lady and the Tramp collector, this is a fantastic choice that could be used as a cake topper as well.
  
  

• In keeping with the theme, you may wish to pick out and play a few songs from the Lady and the Tramp movie DVD.
  
  
• Be sure to mix in a variety of Italian music with your regular dance music throughout the night.
