Infuse your fall wedding table decorations with the gorgeous shades of autumn flowers and leaves, such as ivory; mocha, bronze and browns; deep yellows; muted greens; rusts, oranges, and reds; even deep purples.

Add in texture and a unique twist by choosing harvest vegetables like pumpkins, gourds, squashes, colorful peppers, Indian corn, and dried wheat.

Fall fruits (think apples, pears and grapes), nuts, pine cones, and a variety of berries can all be included to enhance your fall wedding centerpiece ideas.

What To Use As A Base For Your Fall Wedding Centerpiece

When making your own fall wedding centerpieces, you will need to consider the base that your arrangement will be built upon.

You should also take into account the size of the tables where you will be displaying your centerpiece creations. For the smaller guest tables, make sure your arrangement doesn't overwhelm the table. Keep it in proportion to the table.

One other thing to watch out for - you don't want your reception table centerpieces to block the view of guests sitting on opposite sides of each other. Keep it low or tall, narrow and high.

Some thoughts on what items would be suitable are:

Cornucopias - Always great for any fall theme, but an especially good choice for Thanksgiving weddings.
Pumpkins - You can create pumpkin wedding centerpieces with a single large pumpkin (either real or fake) or prepare a grouping of decorated miniature pumpkins.
Glass Bowls - Fill the inside with a variety of items such as mini-pumpkins, fruit, pine cones, acorns, leaves - even coffee beans!
Silver or Fall Colored Platters - Lay out a scattering of leaves on the tray and create an arrangement on top.
Grapevine Wreaths - A popular choice, you can decorate the wreath with autumn themed items and set a glass votive holder or pillar candle in the center.

I came across some fabulous videos that show you how to make a variety of different autumn table centerpieces. After each video, I've included a list of what items were used so you can easily (and inexpensively) make your own. I've also provided some additional tips and suggestions for alternative ideas.

The flowers used in these videos are real. However, you can easily substitute silk flowers instead, especially if you'll be making your own centerpieces and need to make them weeks or months in advance.

Autumn Candlestick Centerpiece

This is a beautiful fall centerpiece idea and would work very well on a wedding buffet table, gift table or other out-of-the-way area.

However, I think they are somewhat too large for a guest reception table, as your guests wouldn't be able to see each other.

What I would suggest (if you wish to use this idea on your guest tables), is to eliminate the tall candlestick base itself and use a short, squat candlestick.

Another option is to glue the floral foam directly onto a small diameter wooden circle or inside a solid colored shallow bowl. This will lower the flowers to table level and your guests will be able to easily talk around it.

Once again, I would suggest eliminating the large urn vase that is being used unless this centerpiece will be decorating a large table.
