How To Make A Wedding Cake Favor Box
(Torta Bomboniera)

Not sure what to give your wedding guests as a thank you favor? How about designing something unique and different, such as a wedding cake favor box that matches your theme?

Originating in Italy, this interesting favor is called a Torta Bomboniera. The original idea uses decorative carton favor boxes which are then set into place to form the look of a tiered "wedding cake."

The favor boxes are decorated with designs upon which an object is glued to the top of the box.

For example, if you were having a beach wedding theme, you could use light blue or sea foam green boxes with a seashell design imprinted on them. A small seashell could then be glued to the top of the box near the outside edge. This, in essence, becomes your decorative "frosting".

Within each wedding cake favor box guests will find Jordan almonds, mints, candies or whatever you choose to place in the boxes, along with a printed favor tag.

The "favor cake" is assembled on larger round 1" high cake box or hat box lids which have been decorated (they form the platform to hold the "cake" together). Once assembled, you can place your creation on a side table where guests can admire the decoration and take a "piece" of the "cake" as their thank you gift.

What a wonderfully unique wedding favor idea! Here's a video featuring gorgeous wedding cake favor box designs for a variety of wedding styles.
