Interesting Ideas For Wedding Favors

You want your guests to have something special to take home from your celebration, but you're not sure what. Traditionally, the wedding couple gift their guests with a little keepsake as a wonderful remembrance of their wedding day. When selecting a favor, be sure to choose one that is related to the theme of your wedding. Additionally, don't forget to attach a small thank-you gift tag to the favor. Following are some great ideas for wedding favors that you may want to consider.

Candle Favors

  • Tie two beeswax candles together with ribbons in your wedding colors. Add a small sprig of dried flowers to the arrangement.

  • Give small jars of aromatic candles decorated with ribbon and craft beads around the neck.

  • Paint and decorate small clay flower pots. Seal with an acrylic sealer (inside and out). Drop in a votive candle.

Glass Favors

  • Give small bottles of homemade wine.

  • Buy cheap wine or champagne glasses and fill with candies, chocolates or mints. Tie ribbons into a bow with streamers around the stem. If you wish to be really creative, you can purchase small glass etching kits from hobby and craft stores and etch your names and date into the glasses.

  • Give a couple of jars of homemade jams and jellys, presented in a small, wicker baseket. Decorate the basket with sprigs of dried flowers and ribbons.

Flower Pot Favors

  • Besides dropping a votive candle in a small pot, you can also fill it with flower seed packets, chocolates or mints.

  • Begin a couple months before your wedding and grow herbs in small pots to give as favors.

  • Paint a small pot in your wedding colors. Add cut out graphics or stickers that feature the theme of your wedding. Using Modge Podge or thinned white glue, glue the graphics to the pot. Seal the pot with acrylic sealer.

Miscellaneous Favor Ideas

  • Create a booklet that features your favorite romantic poems and/or quotes.

  • Have matchbooks imprinted with your names and wedding date. This is a classic favor.

  • Create bookmarks with a small photo of the two of you and a short poem or quote. Tie a tassle to the top.
