This rose theme wedding idea pairs the vibrant fragrances and colors of roses with the beautiful colors of the rainbow for a casual, yet unique celebration. After all, roses are a very popular flower choice with their array of beautiful colors and fragrance. Depending upon the roses that you choose to use, they can impart either a formal or a casual atmosphere. With this particular flower wedding theme, we'll be focusing on a casual setting using a chorus of the many colors that are found in a rainbow, along with complimentary corresponding roses.

Wedding Colors
We'll be working with the soft pastel colors of the rainbow: pink, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple.
Wedding Attire
This will be a bit of a decision for the bridal couple. Do you want to stick to one color for your wedding party's attire or have each person sporting a different color? Whichever you choose, be sure to keep the style of the dresses and suits the same for all of your attendants.
Bride
Traditional white with roses embroidered on the gown. The tiara or headpiece would have roses as well. Some veils have a rose lace trim that you might want to consider.
Bridesmaids
Choose either one color from the rainbow or have each bridesmaid wear a different color dress... all dress styles should be the same though. Use pastels, rather than vibrant color choices. Soft and subtle is what you're looking for. Have each of them carry a matching colored single rose.
Groom and Groomsmen
Go with dark blue or green suits, rather than black. The cummerbunds and/or vests could be varying colors of the rainbow for each man. Alternatively, give each groomsmen a different colored rosebud boutonniere to match the bridesmaid's rose.
Rose Theme Wedding Invitations
If you're making your own invitations, make up your own version of the "Roses are Red" poem verse.
Alternatively, you could include the song popular children's song: "Can You Sing A Rainbow?"
Red and yellow and pink and green
Purple and orange and blue
I can sing a rainbow,
sing a rainbow,
sing a rainbow too.
Listen with your eyes
Listen with your ears,
and sing everything you see,
I can sing a rainbow,
sing a rainbow,
sing along with me.
Red and yellow and pink and green,
Purple and orange and blue,
I can sing a rainbow,
sing a rainbow,
sing a rainbow too!
Decorations For A Rose Theme Wedding
Match your theme with balloon bouquets. You can put together a "rainbow" of balloon colors for each bouquet or use balloons imprinted with roses.
At most wedding receptions, you will see the tables and some parts of the room swagged with tulle netting or gossamer. An idea for this theme would be to use a tie-dyed gossamer in rainbow colors.
Decorate an arbor for your ceremony with artificial climbing rose vines. Use this same arbor at the reception to place over the cake table or the gift table.
Use a balloon arch covered in rainbow colored balloons as a wedding arch or behind the reception headtable. Set the arch in "pots of gold" at each end. (You may even want to add a toy leprechaun at one of the pots to "guard his treasure".)
Table Decor and Centerpieces
Rose confetti will add a romantic touch to your tables. You could also sprinkle some in your invitations too.
Help to seat your guests by using rose imprinted place cards.
Create your own miniature "rose garden" near the gift table. Use real or fake potted roses in a variety of colors and sizes and place them at the back of the gift table. Be sure to leave a significant amount of room for gifts.
Fill clear glass bowls or large brandy sniffers with water. Sprinkle rose petals on top and add some rose-shaped floating candles. Use these as your guest table centerpieces.

Give your guests rosebud shaped chocolates wrapped in cellophane bags and tied with various colored ribbons.
Everyone seems to love candles. A nice favor gift would be pastel colored long-stemed rose candles.
Two good standards that are prefect for favors are rose twinkle pops (rose shaped lollipops) or long-stemmed, foil wrapped chocolate roses. Both types of candy can be given out individually or used as a bouquet on the table... guests help themselves.
Scented soaps are always a nice touch, especially for the ladies. Present your guests with rose soap petals (they are designed to look like rose buds).
For those guests whom you know enjoy a bottle of wine with dinner, hand out wine stopper wedding favors with a rose design.
The color of roses you should use for your flower arrangements with this wedding theme are: white, pink, red, and yellow. Instead of the typcial white or chocolate cake, why not have your baker create a rainbow cake? Here is a sample and recipe for this type of cake: Rainbow Cake. (Note: Please ignore the icing on this cake. Obviously yours will be iced properly for a rose theme wedding celebration. The idea is just to show you the colors of the actual cake.)
In addition, the following links are to various cake sites that featured multi-colored rose cakes, as well as cake toppers. Keep in mind, any rose cake design can be tinted to match this particular rose and rainbow theme:
Cakes by Sam - There's some simple, but elegant cake styles here that feature a variety of colored roses on several of the cakes.
Sweet Sensations - Again, there's a few cakes here that feature multi-colored roses.
For desert you could serve rainbow colored puddings. For the pudding, have the caterer make vanilla pudding. Divide it up into 3 bowls. Add red food coloring to one bowl, blue to another and yellow to the last one. Carefully scoop a bit of each color into the serving bowls and give them a slight swirl around to mix the colors a bit.
Rainbow jello is a nice light desert and goes well with any meal. Make up several different colors of jello. Cut into cubes and add one of each color cube to individual serving dishes.
Pink and red rose colored sparkling punches are a nice drink alternative over regular juices and water.
Use organically grown rose petals in salads. They're edible.
Serve a rainbow colored cake rather than a regular white or chocolate cake.
